Avoid scam, be safe

Have you found something interesting on Hikiwi? Then you should follow these advices:

  • Don't buy unless you are sure that the seller can be trusted.
  • Don't send upfront payments, unless you are sure that the seller will send the goods.
  • Don't meet anyone, anywhere. Meet the seller / the buyer only in a public space or at your home / office. If you want to see a property, ask the agent to send you a license copy.
  • Visit a property, take a drive test with a car, carefully inspect an electronic appliance. Don't buy unless you are fully convinced to do it.
  • If you sell something: don't send the goods until you are sure that you will get the money. Meet the buyer.
  • Ads with pictures are more trustfull than ads with no pictures.
  • We strongly encourage the users to inform themselves about any item's average price. Don't take a price published here as granted.
  • If you want to buy something from an overseas seller, check on Google or any other search engine its references. We encourage you to use only sellers that are selling through PayPal.
  • If you were the victim of a fraud, report it to the Police. According to our "terms of use" we'll provide to the Police all the necessary information.
  • Be especially vigilant with these ad types:
    - work at home: there are many legit work at home opportunities, but there are also many scams
    - weight losing miracle pills and drugs
    - getting rich pyramidal schemas: there is no such thing, the only way to become rich is through work
  • Not sure what to do? Share the ad's page on Facebook and ask for your friend's advice.
